When I was reading the book I would never had thought that Rafe and Danny would get mad at each other. Well in fact during the book rafe and Danny got soo mad at each other they ended up fighting.Another prediction I had when reading this novel was Rafe would end up marring a girl after the war and Danny would end up marring a girl too. The book however didnt think the same way as I did . It just soo happend that Danny died and Rafe was the only one who was married.
My predictions were nothing to how the book ended. My book ended with a really sad death of Danny. I didn't predict that the Eveyn and Rafe would have a kid . I didn't ever suspect that the kid would be Danny's. After reading the book and compairng what i thought to what happened. Some things were so opvious like Eveyn would cause trouble amoung the 2 friends and they wouldn't stay mad at each other for long. My predictions were difffernt because from what happend because i think i expected things to be too aparent. Where as Randall Wallace made things a little more unexpecting. In conclusion, my predictions were off from what realy happend

Mood:
When I was reading my novel the mood I felt most of the time was excitment.I felt excited most of the time ,because most of the book was about the war that was going on in Europe.During the attack on Pearl Harbour I felt a great deal of excitment . At the same time I felt Sad and helpless to those people who were injured and killed . I could discribe the book as a "mixed emotions" book . I say this because there is soo much happening your mind can tell you how to feel. There was no deffinate emotion through the book at all .
To me the saddest part of the book is at the ending 2 pages. The mood having a child grow up without his real father is sad to me. On top of the of the child growing up with no father Eveyn will havve to raise the kid without his real father. There is however a good part to this tragic news, it is the child will grow up with Rafe as his father and the kid was named Danny after his father. That sean ties with the attack on Pearl Harbour as the saddest part . I say this because thousands of men ,children , and civilians were killed in the single attack, and on top of the countless casualties the Japanese sunk almost every navel ship the Americans had. Without a doubt those two part were the saddest.
A part of the story that I remember best is when Danny is killed on a beach in china. I think the reason I remember this so well is because a main character that I got to know throughout the novel was shot on a mission to end the war . The effect that Danny's death had on Rafe was extream . After Danny died Rafe's determination to stay alive and make it back home was bigger. To me that is the climax to the book.
The mood of the story changed a lot . It started as a happy book , then turned into your heart is always pounding hoping everyone will make it to the next chapter alive and well. On the last page of the book Eveyn felt like finally things were right and that everything would be ok . Im sure that if the book went on that the mood would lighten up. After having a child and the war over I think that both Rafe and Eveyn could relax ,enjoy themselves and look after their kid in peace.

evaluation:
There were many things in this book that I liked. One of the things I liked about the book was the attack on Pear Harbour. The auther took 13 pages leading up to where the japanese actually attacked Pear . Specificy I liked how he incorperated all the main characters while he had the japanese commander talking along with the U.S.A officals and not at one point was it confusing. I think that the book would have been a little better at this part if he didn't incude the fighter pilots talking back and forth because that was kinda of confusing.Another part of the book i liked was at the end when Eveyn and Rafe got back togther. After Danny died in the battle of Pearl ,Rafe and Eveyn got married ,had a kid and named it Danny in memory of their friend.
Beings I haven't read any other novels by Randal Wallace I can't very well compair his books. But if I would have to compair it to other novels of the same genre it would be "Battle of brittan."This book is based on the same time and pretty much the same events.I am compairing the two books for a big reason that rafe volunteered to fight in the Battle of brittan!.The two books are the similer because they both start out with young carefree boys with hopes of flying airplanes. They both end up doing just that, but they fly for the army. The endings are the same in that a main character dies and yet the book still has a happy ending to it. all in all both books are very well written and i enjoyed them both a loy :).

Experiences:
While I was reading my novel I couldnt relate the war part of the book to anything in my current life . But I did relate the part of where 2 of my friends threw away there friendship for a girl. While I was reading it I was feeling the same thing that I did when my friends were fighting . That thought was "just slow down ,work something out" . Im sure that if Rafe would listen to what Danny was saying and if Danny would listen to what Rafe was saying this could have been avoided. Danny was trying to say that Rafe shouldnt go away for half a year ,not write to his lover ,and expect her to still feel the way . Rafe wanted Danny to understand that he shouldnt have even gone near Eveyn, and by doing so it was like a stab in the back. In my case my friend "broke up" with a girl and the other friend went after the ex-girlfriend.
I can certainly relate this book to another of my favourite books"trenches". How ever this book is based on world war one it is the same sort of novel. I didn't think of how much alike the two books were until I read this question. In "Trenches" there is a love triangle interfeared by war.One friend(billy) goes off to fight in the war so his other friend(rob) didn't have to go off and fight . In "trenches" it ends a little differently because Billy died in battle and Rob goes off to marry the girl. To me after reading a book by two different authers , It seems like either one of them could have written each others books just by how similer each one war.

characters
The main characes in my novel were Rafe, Danny and Eveyn. The book started with Rafe and Danny as kids and later on Eveyn was introducded into the book. Before Rafe went off to fight in the battle of brittan he and Eveyn had decided to keep in touch because they had a a "thing" going on between the two of them. When Rafe did not come back Danny and Eveyn had a "thing" developing . Personally if I were Danny I would never have gotten that close to my friends girl. in a way it kinda makes me made that he would evn try to o something behind Rafes back.It is partly Eveyns fault for letting it happen without informing Rafe.
My favourite character in the novel was Rafe. Rafe started out as a care free child that reminds me of my brother. When my brother was younger he would make noises of dirt bikes when he would be one his bicycle, and when i was reading the first chapter of the book Danny Rafe played in their dads airplane and made the noises it made when it was flying. Rafe later on in the book tured into a man of little worry other than to protect his country. Rafe's attitude reminded me of my grandfather because like Rafe my grandpa would put others infront of him. An example of Rafes bravery is when the brittish needs recruits for the war Rafe volunteers himself o danny didnt have to go and fight.
In the novel Rafe and Danny change a lot. The two went from being playful carefree boys to men who had a job to do. The book skipt about 10 years of the boys lifes so to me it seemed like a dramatic change in the characters. It went from the two boys on a farm living a kids life at that time, to men in a military training exersize.Which must show a change in both muturity level and age of coarse. In my opionon it was a good decision of Rafe and danny to join the army because he two boys picked up such great talent on the farm crop dusting. Something i think they did wrong was letting a girl get in the way of their bond they had as brothers.

about the auther
The auther of this book is named randall wallace. This book"pear harbour "is his 5th majour motion picture novel. He is famous for his world war novels and I think that he wrote this novel because it is one of the greatest events of the second world war. His dad was an american patriot who fought in the second world war This might also be a reason for why he wrote this book.
another reason for why he may have writen this book is because growing up during the war he herd of the devistaion it caused, and he knew many facts about it.
I think by him writing this book he is trying to tell us . well educate us that war isn't a game .
For those men who joined the war thinking it would be a game has payed the price. I think that he might also show how in cases of war it can bring out a strong love and attraction for people like eveyn and rafe had. He was using the example of eveyn and Rafe to show how similer other couples would had to have been at this time.At the same time he was discribing the acctual events of how it happened , without losing the reader in military language.
I would read more of Randall wallace's books. I realy liked the love twist that he put in the novel for the reason it wasnt over powering the story. I am a fan of war novels , and documentries so this book was right what I am looking for. After hearing that Randal has 4 other majour motion picture books I will look them up to read them.

Quotations
While I was reading the novel Pearl Harbour I came across a quot that I really like. the saying that I liked was first used near the begining of the book when Rafe and Danny were playing in the air plane. After rafRafe looked at Danny and said"land of the free" and Danny would always replie "home of the brave". The reason I like this quote is because I really like the feeling it gives me when I read it .The auther used this quot in the best of times . Danny and Rafe have finsihed their last mission randomly rafe says " land of the free..." and danny replied with "home of the brave". I just thought it fit right in with the mood of the book.
If I could give a good example of good writing it would be at the begining of the book where the auther is writing about Danny and Rafe in miliary trianing. He said things with detail about how they were flying like egales in the sky.In one scean Rafe and Danny kept flying after the officer told them to put down their aircraft. Danny and Rafe were talking about how they wer going to impress the officers with this next move. The auther said "for te people on te ground it looked like things were slow motion , for noone had ever attempted this ever" . The big trick was they passed by each others planes belly to belly without touching. I gave this as an example of good writing because the parts leading up to the trick was well discribed
